In quiet surrounds, overlooking the mountains, a healing space awaits you...
Acupuncture & Shiatsu Therapy do wonders for the tired, stressed body. Gently yet firmly we ease your body into the way you most want to feel – peaceful, balanced and free from pain. How does it help? Japanese acupuncture and acupressure support your entire body to repair and flourish. Treatment is given with clients remaining mostly clothed on a large comfortable futon mat. Based on the principles of Traditional East Asian Medicine, we assess the pulse, meridians and acupressure points of the body to ascertain exactly where both the cause and symptoms are manifesting. We then work kindly and systematically through each part of your body to clear pain, correct posture and restore function.
To understand your state of wellbeing, your therapist will check your 12 main meridians, 8 extraordinary vessel systems, and more than 350 acupressure points for any imbalances We will also carefully assess postural asymmetry and areas of pain so that together we can gently strengthen your body into correct alignment. Traditional East Asian methods are remarkable in that they nourish tiredness and depletion in the body, bringing feelings of fullness, warmth, and vitality. Areas that have become stiff, sore, and stagnant in the body are also thoroughly worked using a range of techniques to resolve injury, restriction and pain.
We use many exceptional techniques to support your body to feel wonderfully well:
Acupressure massage Acupressure, the foundation of shiatsu, has been practised for millennia to release physical pain and promote long-term repair. And it feels amazing! Pressure may be firm or gentle, vigorous or steady depending on your preferences and what your therapist ascertains your body needs.
Japanese acupuncture Always comfortable and highly specific, Japanese needling targets areas that would otherwise be slower to release with pressure alone. Your therapist has trained for over 12 years with master of Japanese Acupuncture Paul Movsessian learning the work of Japanese master practitioners Professor Manaka, Kawai sensei, Akabane, Irie, Naomoto and Miki Shima. Techniques are gentle and extraordinarily effective, and we are proud to preserve these treatment lineages that are not available in standard university courses of TCM. These methods also differ greatly from modern dry needling.
Moxibustion Moxa is a remarkable and highly effective therapy whose recorded use spans more than 2000 years. Small amounts of the processed plant, Artemesia vulgaris are applied to specific acupressure -points and comfortably warmed. Moxa brings heat and circulation and reduces inflammation in chronic and long-term conditions, especially effective for treating joint and muscle tears, scars, digestive and fertility issues. Your therapist has studied and practiced Japanese style direct moxibustion treatment for many years.
Cupping Another therapy used for thousands of years, cupping works by creating a gentle to moderate suction over specific meridians and muscles. The suctioning draws blood to the surface capillaries where it can begin to circulate more freely, especially beneficial where there is deep-level stiffness and poor circulation. Your therapist uses high quality Korean cups to ensure a specific dose and no risk of burning.
Sotai Sotai is a unique method of correcting structural and postural imbalances within the body. Dr Hashimoto pioneered Sotai as a complete system of therapy that uses gentle yet highly effective resistance stretching to align the body. Rather than force or manipulate the body into alignment, where its will usually quickly revert quickly to original positions, Sotai strengthens the supporting musculature which and allows the body to easily hold correct posture.
What does it feel like? Moving toward wellness should feel wonderful. Many clients report feeling greater ease immediately, other comment that they feel lighter, taller and stronger, more like themselves again. When your muscle and meridian systems are free to circulate well, your body can heal with ease.

“I love Shiatsu because acupressure release feels amazing and dissolves pain in a deeply satisfying way! Also, no other therapy I have encountered is able to rebuild energy levels in the same way as shiatsu. Most illness is based on tiredness or depletion of our physiological systems. Shiatsu simply and powerfully supports our return to full vitality.”
